Problems With Series 60 Detroit Diesel Engine It Still Runs

In a bid to save fuel, the engineers at Detroit designed the 60 to idle at very low speed. However, it took Detroit about 10 years to realize that the engine's idle speed was not fast enough to operate the oil pump. As such, many older (pre-1997) engines have had lower engine bearings replaced more than once due to oil starvation.

Boat Fuel Economy (MPG) Consumption Database

One important factor for me when I am looking for a new boat is the fuel economy. Some might argue that if you have to ask you can’t afford it and while that might be true with the cost of marine fuel and the low fuel economy of boating that can add up quickly.. So I have decided to create a user-submitted database of boats and their fuel economy.
